Bright House Networks
Hello Friend
Bright House Networks is a cable company throughout Florida, pockets of the midwest, and Bakersfield, California. According to their numbers, they're the sixth largest provider in the country.
I was brought on while their "Hello Friend" campaign was already underway. The goal was to treat the customer like a friend, and the iteration was the "Neighbors."
I got to write a number of scripts for the neighbors, which gave me experience with character-driven spots. I also got to do a bunch of radio and out of home for the campaign, which gave me experience in coaching surly announcers and fitting a lot of ideas in one measly billboard line.
A lot of the spots were kind of kitschy, but I just embraced it. I also made a cameo at the end there, when my beard was a bit more mighty.
These dudes have kind of a Dennis-The-Menace-And-Mr.-Wilson-But-If-They-Were-Written-As-A-Cable-Company-Commercial vibe.
This was a spot to promote Bright House's free WiFi networks. Sometimes the simplest execution is the best.
Goofy Dad humor. Advertising cliche, but it's one that everybody's gotta scratch off the list.
Radio
It was a challenge to bring the Neighbor campaign into a radio setting. Since the characters couldn't present visually, we had to flesh out their personalities around specific Bright House offerings.
