British Virgin Islands

This was one of the first accounts I ever worked on. They taught me one of the most important lessons that I learned early in advertising—just because you haven't been somewhere or done something doesn't mean you can't write copy for it.

Still, it would have been nice to go there. From everything I wrote, it sounds like a lovely place.

Snorkeling

Snorkeling

Sure does look pretty, though.

Wedding

Wedding

Although I haven't spent any time in a wedding dress, I gotta think that brides wouldn't prefer their train to be fuxin around in the sand like that. But my subscription to The Knot lapsed, so maybe I'm behind the times.

The ads revolved around the existing BVI tagline "Nature's Little Secrets," for which I (thankfully) cannot take credit. The crop marks lend a nice feel of authenticity, though. Full disclosure: final ad ran without crop marks.

Nice day for the boat.

My last vacation was at my brother's house in Tennessee. I think this would be just a tad better.

Holy High-Waisted Bikini, Batman. It's funny to look back on stuff that you didn't have a say in. For instance, I might have suggested she go a few feet further into the water.

Seriously, though. Look at that view.

Diving

Diving

Fifth corner of the earth was one of my first serious headlines. I wrote probably six dozen headlines to get to this one—an exercise I still employ when I'm creatively stuck.

I liked how this one was kinda snarky. BVI did not.

New York Times Longform Ad

New York Times Longform Ad

This half-pager ran in the New York Times. It was one of the first time I saw my work in print, which is a pretty cool feeling.
